Country music legend Vince Gill and bluegrass powerhouse Alison Krauss have a history of making great music together, and that storied history continues in the second installment of CMT′s performance series, CMT CROSS COUNTRY, premiering Friday, October 27 at 10:00-11:00 p.m., ET/PT. The episode features hit songs from the pair′s past successes, including "What the Cowgirls Do," "Maybe" and "The Reason Why," a track on Gill′s current four disc project These Days. Gill and Krauss also combine their musical prowess for a country version of the Genesis hit, "That&primes All."
A video excerpt featuring Krauss′ hit "The Lucky One," performed by the pair, made its exclusive world premiere during last week′s CMT TOP 20 COUNTDOWN and is available on multiple CMT screens, including the network′s digital channel CMT PURE COUNTRY, CMT Loaded at CMT.com and CMT Radio will make the audio available to more than 130 radio stations across the country
Longtime friends and colleagues, Gill and Krauss′ past collaborations include the title track from Gill′s 1996 album High Lonesome Sound featuring Krauss and Union Station, which won a 1996 Grammy for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals. Krauss was featured on Gill′s single, "The Hills of Caroline," and the duo also sang with The Chieftains on their Down the Old Plank Road: The Nashville Sessions album.
CMT CROSS COUNTRY highlights the rich tradition of country music by uniting two country music artists who discover the country roots they have in common while sharing their music with one another. The first episode of CMT CROSS COUNTRY featured legend Randy Travis and newcomer Josh Turner. The two performed hits including "Three Wooden Crosses," "Your Man," "Forever And Ever Amen" and "Long Black Train." The premiere episode established itself as a hit with its August 2006 premiere in both network ratings and spurred double-digit increases in album sales for the featured artists.
