SURVIVAL FRIDAYS launches November 10 at 9 PM ET/PT with the world premiere series, MAN vs. WILD. Host Bear Grylls strands himself in popular wilderness destinations where tourists often find themselves lost or in danger. Once there he finds his way back to civilization, demonstrating local survival techniques along the way, including escaping quicksand in the Moab desert, navigating dangerous river currents in Costa Rica, building a snow shelter in the Alps and spearing fish in Hawaii. Bear is a seasoned adventurer who is a former British Special Air Services soldier. His experience includes climbing Mount Everest, crossing the frigid North Atlantic Ocean in a small, open boat and jet skiing around the British Isles.
I SHOULDN′T BE ALIVE follows MAN vs. WILD on November 10 at 10 PM ET/PT, with all new episodes. The series enters its third season showcasing the world′s most incredible stories of survival, displaying people′s innate drive to live - even in the most unimaginable situations. Told in the present tense with a mix of high-caliber dramatizations and first-person interviews, each episode is told from the perspective of the survivor. Advanced graphics provide practical information about survival and reveal what happens to organ functions and the human body as it faces extreme challenges in harsh environments.
EVEREST: BEYOND THE LIMIT joins SURVIVAL FRIDAYS on November 17 at 8 PM ET/PT. This year′s climbing season on Mount Everest was one of the deadliest on record, and marked the first time a double amputee made it to the summit - and the Discovery Channel was there. EVEREST: BEYOND THE LIMIT puts viewers on the world′s tallest peak, following the grueling May 2006 climb of 11 diverse adventurers, including an ER doctor, a firefighter, a double amputee and an asthmatic. Experienced high altitude videographers and cameras attached to the helmets of Sherpas vividly document the expedition, organized and managed by one of the mountain′s most experienced leaders. The six-part series premieres on Tuesday, November 14 at 10 PM ET/PT and repeats Fridays at 8 PM beginning November 17.
