Bravo´s much-anticipated unscripted series BEING BOBBY BROWN premieres Thursday, June 30 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT, and will be followed immediately by episode two at 10:30 p.m. The eight-episode, half-hour series is an introspective look at the Grammy-winning Bobby Brown, and his life as a husband, father, and friend. His own wife dubbed him the "King of R&B" and this is their royal story told from Brown´s heart. This real-life "fly-on-the-wall" look at Bobby Brown´s world will reveal deeply personal moments that vary from humorous to heartwarming and which are, at times, emotionally charged.
"This summer, Bravo launches nine new original series, each providing a distinct take on an aspect of pop culture, the arts and entertainment," said Lauren Zalaznick, President, Bravo. "Bobby Brown, by virtue of his music, fame and high profile family relationships, is a pop culture icon, whose life is played out in the media daily. This series deconstructs his public persona and provides a true 360 degree look at what his private life is like."
BEING BOBBY BROWN will follow Brown and the rest of his immediate and extended family over the course of six months. Shot documentary-style, the series will reveal the close bonds Bobby has with his wife and children and unveil what his life is like both in the spotlight and behind closed doors. The series will show Brown as a family man and husband, apart from the front-page scandals and allegations that have plagued, and at times overshadowed, his successful music career. Viewers also get a deep look into Brown´s relationships with his wife, Whitney Houston, their daughter, Bobbi Kristina, and La Princia and Bobby, Jr., his children from a previous relationship. BEING BOBBY BROWN will also uncover the direction Brown intends to take his career and introduce the important role that his brother and manager, Tommy Brown, plays as "his brother´s keeper" in his work and his life.
Over the course of the series, viewers will experience the highs and lows of BEING BOBBY BROWN, from the highs of traveling with the Browns on their family vacation to London where Bobby meets the Dalai Llama to a trip to the Bahamas where Bobby and family seek peace and personal time together. Private moments will also be shared including a romantic day date with Bobby and Whitney at a spa, as well as their love of food from dining on steaks at fine restaurants to eating flapjacks at the local pancake house. Equally balanced will be the low points of Bobby´s life, including one of many visits to the courtroom.
