The summer hit DANCING WITH THE STARS will return with an eight-week run, beginning Thursday, January 5 (8:00 p.m., ET), it was announced by Andrea Wong, executive vice president, Alternative Programming, Specials and Late-Night, ABC Entertainment. This summer´s only true hit series, DANCING will replace the action drama ALIAS, which will take a broadcast hiatus due to Jennifer Garner´s maternity leave and which is scheduled to return to the lineup with original episodes in the spring.
"We are so grateful viewers embraced this show," said Ms. Wong. "With a new cast of stars and the addition of the results show, we will be delivering to them a season that has even more drama, more dancing and more glitter!"
This second season of DANCING WITH THE STARS will feature a new lineup of celebrities, who will be announced at a later date. A weekly results show will air in the days following the Thursday broadcast. The day and time of that broadcast will also be announced at a later date.
With an average audience of 16.8 million viewers, DANCING WITH THE STARS concluded its six-week summer run as the most-watched summer series on any network in the last five years - since the inaugural season of CBS´ SURVIVOR during Summer 2000. The ABC unscripted show ranked a dominant No. 1 in its time slot among Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, qualifying as the top TV show of the evening on each of its telecasts on both Nielsen measures. DANCING WITH THE STARS greatly improved its time period, boosting ABC´s performance in the hour by 12.2 million viewers (16.8 million vs. 4.6 million) and by 168% in Adults 18-49 (5.1/15 vs. 1.9/6) over the same weeks the previous summer.

Rivals Networks Make Personal Bet On Rating Success For AMAZING RACE AND SURVIVOR Repeats
Reality Showdown: GSN and OLN put AMAZING RACE and SURVIVOR To The Test In A Bet
OLN President Will Eat A Cricket To Make Good On A Bet With GSN President & CEO
While head-to-head network competition has been a part of television since its earliest beginnings, the Presidents of GSN and OLN took it to a personal level, when they placed a side bet against the month-long performances of their respective adventure reality acquisitions THE AMAZING RACE on GSN and SURVIVOR on OLN.
GSN President and CEO Rich Cronin bet OLN President Gavin Harvey that his network´s THE AMAZING RACE would outperform OLN´s SURVIVOR in total viewers for the first month. Cronin told Harvey that if THE AMAZING RACE lost the bet that he would "race" to-and-from work, walking four miles each way for one week. Harvey countered saying that if OLN´s SURVIVOR did not beat THE AMAZING RACE´s viewership that he would "survive" by eating a cricket.
The results are in and GSN´s THE AMAZING RACE averaged 355,000 total viewers each night in prime time, peaking with 495,000 on July 14. This measurement was based on the one-month period from July 11 to August 10 (M-Su 9 PM). OLN´s SURVIVOR averaged 200,000 total viewers each night in prime time, peaking with 362,000 viewers on August 3, putting GSN ahead of OLN in total viewers. OLN´s measurement was based on the time period of July 24 through August 23 (Sun 7p; M-Th 10p).
True to his word, Harvey will honor the bet and eat a cricket with Cronin as a witness the next time the two are together in either New York or Los Angeles. Surprisingly, both cities have a few good restaurants that serve this fine "delicacy."
Said Cronin: "Hats off to Gavin and OLN for doing a great job packaging and promoting SURVIVOR. I´m glad that I don´t have to walk to work four miles, but despite Gavin having to eat a cricket, I think both OLN and GSN are winners with SURVIVOR and THE AMAZING RACE. THE AMAZING RACE just won its third consecutive Emmy and the early seasons of the series have attracted many new viewers to GSN."
Commented Harvey: "This bet was made in the spirit of competition, which is what OLN is all about. SURVIVOR has been a huge boon for the network, increasing the ratings for its time periods by 200%. The show regularly doubles its lead-in programming, and we´re pleased to see ratings growth in each of the seasons we´ve presented so far. Both THE AMAZING RACE and SURVIVOR prove the viability of reality television in syndication. I applaud GSN for the way they´ve been able to capitalize on THE AMAZING RACE and I look forward to resolving the bet later this month."

Six Pack is being produced by National Lampoon´s Reality Bar Crawl Channel to coincide with the launch of Stampede Brewing Co.´s new beer, Stampede Light. The host of Six Pack will be the infamous Puck, from MTV´s The Real World. The winning bidder will get to hang with Puck and Stampede Brewing Co.´s founder for a weekend of fun, sports, and debauchery. All expenses will be paid and all mayhem will be taped, however, you must be 21 to bid. The charity auction, listed on eBay(R) and managed by Kompolt, can be found at www.ebay.com/stampedebeer .
A portion of the winning bid will be donated to The Celiac Disease Foundation. "People like to watch people doing real things... not commercials," said Puck from MTV´s The Real World San Francisco. "So I decided to help Stampede tell their story through a reality TV show instead of letting them waste money on stupid commercials that nobody watches. Nationwide Search Announced For The Next Reality TV Design Star for HGTV
Anyone who is bursting with decor and design ideas and has a burning desire to be on TV will finally have the chance to make the passion for paint and romance with rooms pay off. HGTV, the premier home and lifestyle network with shows featuring popular hosts/designers such as Kenneth Brown (reDesign), Karen McAloon (Design Remix) and Candice Olson (Divine Design), has launched a nationwide search for the next great design star. Beginning Monday, October 24 through Saturday, December 3, HGTV will accept applications from professional, novice and wannabe designers who think they have the ideas, instincts and individuality to host their own show on HGTV. The application can be found on HGTV.com.
As a second pillar of the Design Star search, homeowners who have dreamed of enhancing a room in their home will have a chance to get in on the action. Beginning Monday, December 5th through Friday, January 14th 2006, HGTV will accept applications from homeowners who have a room that is in dire need of a redo.
During February and March 2006, HGTV viewers will vote on the profiles of 10 designer finalists and 10 room finalists on HGTV.com, narrowing the pool of candidates for each group to five. At that point, viewers will vote again to "match up" each the five designer finalists with the five homeowner finalists based on who they think is the best designer for a particular room´s challenge. In August 2006, viewers can then sit back and watch the fun when HGTV airs Design Star, a special five-part series showcasing the selected designers as they makeover the rooms of the lucky homeowners. After a final viewer vote, one designer will be selected to host their very own 13-part series on HGTV to premiere January 2007.
"The Design Star concept has been in development for quite some time because we wanted to be sure it was an idea that would really engage all our viewers and inspire them to participate," said Michael Dingley, senior vice president, programming and content strategy, HGTV. "This is an ideal concept for HGTV because any viewer can get involved, whether as a potential designer or as a potential candidate for a makeover in their own home. Design Star is reflective of the spirit of the network and our goal to offer a variety of entertaining programming that inspires viewers with great ideas for their homes."

TV Renews LAGUNA BEACH: THE REAL ORANGE COUNTY And Picks Up 8TH AND OCEAN
MTV: Music Television announced the greenlight for a third season of the hit series LAGUNA BEACH: THE REAL ORANGE COUNTY, returning in 2006. The network also greenlit new reality drama series 8TH AND OCEAN, set to premiere in Q1 2006.
From the team behind MTV´s genre-bending series LAGUNA BEACH, 8TH AND OCEAN will capture the real lives of the cast but will have the look and feel of a scripted drama. Telling the story of 10 young male and female models living together in a beachfront apartment complex while enduring the cut-throat world of fashion, this reality drama is shot in the style of a narrative film, but with an "indie edge." There are no interviews or confessionals the stories are told purely through probing camerawork, eclectic music and unscripted dialogue.
Every year thousands of potential models converge on the sun-drenched, bikini-clad town of South Beach, Miami with the hopes of making it big. Drama unfolds when competitive and interpersonal relationships heat up as these aspiring models hustle off to casting calls, sexy photo shoots and client go-sees while enjoying the seductive South Beach scene. Their agency, Irene Marie, a pioneer in the modeling industry in South Beach, and its booking agents work to guide these naïve and often self-doubting models in the hopes of turning them into successful pros. Underneath their flawless looks lies a bed of insecurity, uncertainty and apprehension about succeeding in this new world, but ultimately only the strong will survive.
All living in agency-owned apartments, the models work to make their dreams come true while dealing with the highs and lows of this demanding business. And with six girls in one apartment and four guys in another, competition and emotions are sure to boil over in these tight quarters.
"LAGUNA BEACH´S winning blend of fly-on-the-wall teen drama and artfully shot entertainment has truly connected with our audience," said Brian Graden, President, Entertainment MTV Music Group and President, Logo. "8TH AND OCEAN will build upon this distinctive method of storytelling with a compelling cast of models striving to succeed on the sands of South Beach."
"Our goal with 8TH AND OCEAN is to pull back the curtains on this seemingly glamorous business and present the real life drama of this dynamic group of young models," said Tony DiSanto, Executive Producer for LAGUNA BEACH and 8TH AND OCEAN. "Like LAGUNA BEACH we are approaching the storytelling of 8TH AND OCEAN without the standard visual and structural conventions of reality television. We are going for a unique cinematic style with a narrative which will allow the viewers to feel as though they are there, eavesdropping on the lives of these up-and-coming models."
Heralded by numerous critics, LAGUNA BEACH has proven to be not just a ratings winner, but also a franchise success for the network. Through 11 weeks, the second season of LAGUNA BEACH has reached over 73 million viewers and is the most watched program in its time period (Mon 10-10:30pm) among P12-24 across all of television, even out-delivering broadcast. In addition, the first season DVD is one of the top selling TV on DVD´s this year, selling more than 300,000 units to-date. Since the second season premiere, MTV.com´s site-wide traffic for LAGUNA BEACH content has generated more than 90 million page views to-date, while LAGUNA BEACH: THE AFTER SHOW served nearly 6.3 million streams on the broadband video channel MTV Overdrive.
The season finale of LAGUNA BEACH: THE REAL ORANGE COUNTY is scheduled for Monday, November 14 at 10:00PM (ET/PT).

QUEER EYE To Premiere December 6 With Special Wedding
Grooms and their brides rejoice as Bravo´s QUEER EYE launches an all-new season with a block of wedding episodes that will feature everything from the perfect proposal to a fabulous ceremony. QUEER EYE kicks off on Tuesday, December 6 at 10:00 PM ET/PT with a premiere proposal episode.
The ultimate kings of style will help create the perfect wedding experience for each couple as they tackle touchy topics such as priest vs. rabbi and lasagna vs. chopped liver. The Fab Five are truly "best men" as they weigh in on everything from asking for the parents´ permission to popping the question to planning an affair to remember.
"For the very first time, the Fab Five rush in to help straight guys with the most important decision and event of their lives - marriage," said Andrew Cohen, Vice President of Production and Programming. "Tying the knot has never been this much fun!"
A surprise proposal will kick-off Bravo´s new season of QUEER EYE as straight guy Joe Uva proves to his longtime girlfriend Laura, as well as her family and friends, that he deserves her hand in marriage after ten years of courtship. After meeting Laura at jury duty at the White Plains Courthouse, the two quickly started dating. And dating. And dating. Laura was patient, and trusted Joe when he said he´d marry her soon, but soon never came. When Joe bought himself a Harley instead of buying Laura a ring, she ended the relationship. Friends and family always said these two were meant to be, but since Joe did not understand how to make a relationship work, he was seriously in the doghouse when the Fab Five stepped in to help him out. In a fairytale proposal, Joe finally proves to the world that Laura comes first.
The Fab Five´s next mission is to plan a magnificent wedding for their favorite couple, Joe and Laura, whose story is the ultimate QUEER EYE fairy tale. Girl met boy. Girl and boy fell in love. Girl dated boy. And dated him... And dated him... Ten years later, they were still dating without boy proposing to girl. Laura forced herself to try to move on and Joe realized he could not live without her, so he summoned the Fab Five for help in winning her back. The Fab Five succeed, and now that Joe proposed and Laura said "yes," they are back to help this duo plan their dream wedding. The Fab Five pool their resources and recruit the best that New York has to offer - the best wedding planner, caterer, church, and reception hall for the beautiful bride Laura and her handsome groom Joe. Their elaborate QUEER EYE wedding is beyond comparison and will premiere on Tuesday, December 13 at 10:00 PM.
In the third wedding-installment, QUEER EYE will feature New Yorker Maria and Texan David, who met almost four years ago and fell madly in love while students at medical school. They are now both residents with distance between them as Maria lives in New York and David lives in Boston. Despite their long distance relationship, they are ready to get married. There is a catch. Maria comes from a family of practicing Italian Catholics from Queens, New York, and David´s parents are liberal Jews from Dallas, Texas. With such severe differences in traditions and beliefs, Maria and David are terrified to plan their actual wedding. They want the wedding to be focused on them, not on the sensitive issues surrounding their very different backgrounds. They have recruited the Fab Five to help them plan a spectacular wedding so they can start their new life together without allowing their respective families to dictate the details. QUEER EYE´s Fab Five will plan an over-the-top rehearsal dinner with a surprise twist that will premiere on Tuesday, December 20 at 10:00 PM.
The official website for QUEER EYE is located at www.BravoTV.com.

ROCK STAR Runner-up Marty Casey To Open For INXS
Marty Casey the runner-up on the TV show ROCK STAR: INXS -- has been tapped with his band, the Lovehammers, to open INXS´ highly anticipated "Switched On" tour, which kicks off in January 2006.
"Being the opening act is really the best possible scenario for me," Casey says. "I´ve been with my band for 15 years and now I get the best of both worlds."
The 32 year old Chicago singer describes his band´s performances as a "high energy, fast-paced, big-time rock and roll show." He knows it will have to be that and more in order to set the stage for INXS. "I want to get out there and get people excited," he says. "We have to work 15 times harder to get to the level that INXS bring on every night."
It´s the least he can do for the multi-platinum Aussie rockers, who not only gave Casey advice and encouragement on the TV show, but have offered to continue their counsel as the tour progresses. "It´s the ultimate gift," says Casey.
"Marty is a fresh edgy performer who is captivating," says Tim Farriss of INXS. "He´s compelling to watch and listen to."
Casey would like to have won the competition, but is happy about this latest turn of events, too. "I respect their decision," he says. "And I have more admiration for INXS by giving Marty Casey & the Lovehammers a chance. People are going to be blown away." The public is already responding. Caseys song TREES is the number one download on MSN this week.
For INXS, the success of ROCK STAR has also meant sales. Recently, THE BEST OF INXS (Atlantic) reached number one on Billboard´s catalogue chart, and INXS´ new single PRETTY VEGAS, (Epic Records) hit number four with over 20,000 downloads via iTunes. The band recently shot a video for the song with director Scott Duncan.

USA Network Announces Casting Call For NASHVILLE STAR 4
NASHVILLE STAR, USA Network´s original grassroots talent search to find America´s next great country music star and the nation´s top-rated country music program, will give another talented and deserving artist their big break when the show returns for its fourth season, it was announced by Jeff Wachtel, USA´s executive vice president of original programming.
"NASHVILLE STAR works because it showcases the best untapped musical talent on television," explains Wachtel. "One thing we´ve learned over the past three seasons is that there´s an incredible pool of talented performers whose voices have yet to be heard."
"I had been in Nashville for a decade writing songs," says first season winner Buddy Jewell. "NASHVILLE STAR landed me a record deal and gave me the opportunity to perform my own songs on the show in front of millions of Americans each week with fan reactions via email and through my website. It would have taken me years to get that sort of dedicated fan base without the support of those people who followed the show," says Jewell.
NASHVILLE STAR will launch a national casting tour beginning at the Saddle Ranch Chop House in Universal City, Los Angeles, on October 21 from 12:00-6:00pm and continuing on to 16 cities across America including Chicago, Dallas, DC, Portland, Atlanta and Las Vegas.
CASTING TOUR SCHEDULE
October 21 Los Angeles, CA
October 29 Chicago, IL
October 29 Morgantown, WV
October 29 Phoenix, AZ
October 29 Oklahoma City, OK
November 5 Dallas, TX
November 5 Lincoln, NE
November 5 Raleigh, NC
November 5 Tampa, FL
November 12 Portland, OR
November 12 Washington, DC
November 12 Pittsburgh, PA
November 12 Atlanta, GA
November 18 Nashville, TN
November 21 Indianapolis, IN
November 30 Houston, TX
December 8 Las Vegas, NV
How it works:
1. Those auditioning will have one minute to perform a song off an approved song list.
2. A select few of the most talented will be invited back the next day for a chance to sing either two (2) cover songs from the approved song list or one (1) song off the list and one (1) original song.
3. The top contestants then proceed to one of two regional competitions to again audition for a chance to appear on the show.
The auditions are open to women and men, ages 18 and over (as of January 1, 2006), who think they have what it takes to become the next NASHVILLE STAR. Updated information on auditions including cities, locations and times, song lists and applications can be found on http://www.usanetwork.com/nashvillestar/
As in the past, the winner of this season´s NASHVILLE STAR will receive a major music recording contract with a top-level record label. But even runners-up come away with something most country music artists work years to achieve. "NASHVILLE STAR was like a ten-week audition in front of every record label VIP in Nashville and country music fans across the country," says season one runner-up Miranda Lambert.
The first three seasons of the series have launched the careers of promising artists including Jewell, Lambert and 2005´s Erika Jo. Jewell debuted his self-titled CD at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart and was eventually certified gold by the RIAA. Runner-up Miranda Lambert became a household name when her "Kerosene" became the highest-selling debut album of 2005. She is currently a front-runner for CMA´s Horizon Award honoring new talent. Erika Jo, the most recent NASHVILLE STAR, landed at No. 5 on the same chart with her self-titled debut CD and at No. 27 on the Hot 200 Album Chart (all genres), outselling Kenny Chesney, Gretchen Wilson, Big & Rich, Tim McGraw and Shania Twain, among others.

AMAZING RACE HOST Phil Keoghan Name His Most Memorable RACE Moments
In an interview with the CHICAGO TRIBUNE, Phil Keoghan, host of THE AMAZING RACE, was asked what have been the most memorable moments for him from the past seven seasons.
* Charla and Mirna carrying meat in Season 5: "I´m sorry, it just doesn´t get much better than that."
* Emily and Nancy trying to find a clue in an Indian marketplace in Season 1: "It was just such an amazing example of culture shock, which to me, the audience connects with, because they understand, - If I were there, I would be so out of my element."
* The head shaving with Uchenna and Joyce in Season 7: "It´s extremely touching. Part of what makes that so powerful is that when Brandon and Nicole were faced with the same fast-forward, they decided not to do it, and they didn´t win THE AMAZING RACE. I asked Brandon and Nicole, "What would you do for a million dollars?" They looked at me, and I said, "Would you shave off your hair for a million dollars?" They realized what I was asking them, and I said, "Well, clearly you wouldn´t, because you don´t know if you just gave up a million dollars." Speaking Uchenna and Joyce, Phil said, "I don´t think we´ve ever had more popular winners. Same with Chip and Kim."
* The challenge in New Zealand, when racers rolled down a hill in a giant ball called a Zorb:"That´s a friend of mine, that´s my friend¹s farm. I drove about 500 miles to find that location; they´d never taken the Zorb off-site before, so I tested it with my friend, down this hill. I just remember screaming, "We´ve got to get that in the show!"
* In Season 5, when the Bowling Moms were doing the rock-climbing challenge, Phil wished that Christie had done that challenge instead of Colin: "That´s when I wished there had been the rule about (teammates having to do an even number of) roadblocks. Colin was doing most of the roadblocks, and I would have loved to have seen Christie go head to head with Karen (of the Bowling Moms)."
* John of the team John Vito and Jill eating the cheese in Season 3: "It was just funny."
* Uchenna and Joyce at the orphanage in South Africa.
* In Season 6, Gus and Hera at the Goure Island in Africa, where slaves were shipped to the New World: "To me it¹s one of the greatest moments, where the show really slowed down and was breathing. The whole show slowed down. It was extraordinary."

THE SURREAL LIFE Finale This Sunday
THE SURREAL LIFE - the worlds of seven pop culture originals collide as they learn to live too close for comfort in a plush Hollywood mansion will have it´s Season Finale this Sunday.
The final morning begins with an unexpected apology in the bathroom from Omarosa to Janice and the two women hug. Unaware, the rest of the gang still worry about the Omarosa/Janice rivalry; Caprice thinks Janice is spreading too much "negativity" around the house, while Pepa feels Omarosa should not have accused Janice of being a poor mother.
And when Janice asks for an apology at the last cast dinner, Omarosa flat out refuses. Saying she stands behind what she said about Janice´s wild antics and her questionable skills as a mother, stating, "You need help, Janice...I can´t lie." And the battle of the century begins its crescendo.
By the end of the night someone will climb out through a window, run down the driveway in tears leaving the house in a complete shambles - literally and emotionally!
THE SURREAL LIFE finale is on VH1 this Sunday (October 9th) at 10:00 pm EST / 9:00 pm CST

PROJECT RUNWAY To Premiere December 7 - Announces Partnerships
Bravo, Miramax Television, The Weinstein Company and ELLE are pleased to announce that L´Oreal Paris, Saturn, TRESemme, Banana Republic and Orbitz have signed on as the official sponsors of the second season of Bravo´s Emmy-nominated runaway hit series PROJECT RUNWAY, which premieres Wednesday, December 7 at 10 p.m., ET/PT.
The partnerships with Saturn, L´Oreal Paris and TRESemme are integrated deals that will provide significant exposure in all mediums including in-show, on-air and print. Orbitz is an official on-air sponsor for Bravo and Banana Republic has formed a deal with Miramax and The Weinstein Company to provide in-show integration.
"The creative world of fashion design truly struck a cord with our advertiser base as so many brands came forward to be part of the second season of PROJECT RUNWAY," said Lauren Zalaznick, President of Bravo. "The organic integration in, and on-air association with, this series is a great way for these sponsors to create a strong buzz among key consumers."
"We are looking forward to another successful season of PROJECT RUNWAY and are excited about being in business with Bravo and all of our partners," said Harvey Weinstein.
"PROJECT RUNWAY is a brand´s dream," said Lori Sale, Executive Vice President Worldwide Promotions for Miramax Films. "There are so many organic integration opportunities within the show and outside the show through our partnership with Bravo and ELLE Magazine. We have been literally able to create one-stop shopping for brands who seek a relationship with fashion and style."
Supermodel Heidi Klum will return as host of the Emmy-nominated series, which gives aspiring designers a chance to break into the notoriously difficult-to-crack fashion world. Along with the critical praise the series received, the first season garnered record ratings for Bravo. With 500% growth over its total-viewer and key demographic premiere numbers in December, the series finale on February 23 of cable´s hottest show, and the only cable show nominated for an Emmy in the Competitive Reality category, delivered the highest numbers for any Bravo telecast for the 2004-05 season to date.
The second season of the premier reality series set in the glamorous and rigorous world of the fashion industry will pit sixteen aspiring designers against each other facing off on design challenges. Saturn will provide the winner with $100,000 in seed money to help them launch their own line and a 2007 Saturn Sky Roadster. The winner´s designs will be photographed for ELLE by the magazine´s world-renowned Publication Director, Gilles Bensimon, and they will also receive a mentorship from the Banana Republic Design Team.

In a head to head battle, AMERICA´S NEXT TOP MODEL 5 seems to be pulling no fluke punches as it has beaten Martha Stewart in the all important ratings race which has prompted this surprisingly move.
Effective immediately, THE APPRENTICE: MARTHA STEWART will now be seen at 9:00 pm EST, instead of the customary 8:00 pm time slot.
